Women represent a critical population in developing nations. The surge of rural-urban migration is contained largely by women who engage in various trades in the rural communities. It is noticeably remarkable the impact of women contribution in sustaining community continuity.
A further reference to households indicates yet another indispensable role of women. As natural managers, women are able to manage and direct available resources for maximum result and even provide sound leadership either as replacement for the man or a superior complementary role to that effect.
This therefore implies that special attention should be channeled to women development particularly rural women to enhance their continuous contribution and impact. These efforts must be marshalled from all fronts - Government, non Governmental organizations, faith based organizations, and even direct community inputs.
It was on this capacity that the President of Dora-Paul Empowerment Initiatives, Prof Mrs Usen G Ikpe was invited to deliver a speech on the theme - The Godly and Wise Building Woman at a women empowerment event organized by a Methodist church Nigeria Women's Fellowship Diocese of Eket marking their annual convention.
With her usual captivating teaching style, she greatly inspired the women stirring the entire audience into rounds of ovation at each high point of the lecture.
She covered key areas on a successful marriage under the event topic: Simple Practical Tips on Management of Marital Crisis where women need to accept responsibility instead of apportioning blames.
She left the women with a motivating punchline referring to them as "Polished women" when they internalize her teaching.
The event subsequently ended with an electrifying gusto as the women expressed intensed gratitude for the session with the President of Doral-Paul, Prof Mrs Usen G. Ikpe.
